As we enter the holiday season – and take this opportunity to wish you a peaceful and prosperous 2025 – the MarQuip crew can reflect back on a year full of innovation and progress for our company. As you can read in this recap, and explore further via the links, 2024 was a year that saw us leverage on our expertise in exhaust systems to benefit superyacht owners, designers, engineers and yards the world over.
The issue of how best to comply with new regulations such as IMO Tier-III have been front of mind for many in our industry during 2024 and our know-how as an independent exhaust system integrator has often proven its value. Our March newsletter took a deep dive into the subject, examining which criteria to use when choosing OEM after-treatment solutions (SCR) and how to compare these to third-party solutions for NOx reduction. It also reflected on the successful introduction of MarQuip’s revolutionary Exhaust Gas Heat Exchanger onto the superyacht market. You can read about this custom-designed heat recovery system and its impressive energy savings here.
Our summer newsletters primarily focused on the wide-ranging benefits of MarQuip’s after- treatment products. This came in response to the launch of a dedicated website for the range, which you can directly access here. In July we highlighted two products, namely DPF & SCR aftertreatment systems and the advanced technology and thinking behind our exhaust silencer solutions. A later edition gave an overview of all our exhaust products and how they can optimise any refit or new build project. And in November we explained how MarQuip’s understanding of scoop designs offers you underwater cowling at its best.
Last but not least, a review of the autumn exhibitions on the agenda showcased the dynamic nature of both the superyacht sector and the wider leisure marine industry. The MarQuip management team met many existing and potential clients in Hamburg (SMM), Monaco (Yacht Show), Istanbul (Europort) and Amsterdam (METSTRADE).
Jeroen van der Matten also took part in an inspiring trade mission organised by the Netherlands Maritime Technology association and it was fascinating to visit leading Turkish superyacht yards. Earlier in the year we were also involved in the Superyacht Technology Show in Barcelona and the global nature of our lives and work has never been clearer.
Wherever you may be reading this, have a happy Christmas and we look forward to touching base again in 2025.
