MarQuip was recently asked to join a challenging refit project involving the replacement of main engine exhaust systems on a well-known and highly popular charter yacht. The existing systems, not originally been supplied by MarQuip, no longer met the required engine parameters. This caused many problems for the vessel’s chief engineer as well as a range of ongoing maintenance issues.
The key challenge was to develop a fully compliant and high-performing solution within the constraints of the existing footprint and available space. With the yacht fully booked for the charter season, reliability and performance were critical. There was no room for delays to the refit or compromise on the solutions.
Acting as system integrator, MarQuip delivered a tailored solution supported by our full range of in-house expertise. From initial assessment and engineering to implementation and support, our end-to-end guidance ensured an optimal system performance and long-term reliability.
In the pipeline
This project is just one of a strong pipeline of assignments MarQuip is currently managing as the upcoming refit season approaches. They range from yachts between 55 and 200 metres in length, with exhaust system diameters between 100 and 900 mm. Project scopes vary from targeted silencer upgrades to complete refits, including advanced SCR and DPF systems and associated components. This portfolio reflects MarQuip’s ability to handle complex retrofit challenges while maintaining a consistent focus on quality, precision and client support.
