MarQuip is busy with a new project involving the refit of a 74-metre superyacht together with the Astilleros de Mallorca yard in Palma. We were contacted by the owner’s rep after the yacht’s current exhaust system encountered temperature issues. MarQuip is now integrating an entirely new water-cooled main engine exhaust system onboard.
You can see the details in the accompanying 3D model (made by us), which is integrated in a 3D scan (made by the yard). The new exhaust system is designed to optimally fit within the limited space available. It includes a compact silencer and a water-injection segment with various water-connections to ensure everything is properly cooled.
The partnership with the Astilleros de Mallorca team is working very well and offers potential for other joint projects in the future. The yard is responsible for the water pipelines and construction onboard as well as checking its interaction with the MarQuip system.
