One of the most frequently raised topics during the Metstrade show are refits, and these discussions often led to us being invited onboard the vessel in question for further analysis. “Early consultations are the best way for both parties to examine whether, and if so how, MarQuip can be of service,” says Wiebe Voorneveld. “We currently have many refits and potential refits underway, ranging from the replacement of old silencers to completely new systems. Upgrades to new engines with the corresponding IMO TIER III aftertreatment solutions are also an important part of our portfolio.”
In addition, MarQuip regularly receives inquiries from the market about yachts which have systems installed from other suppliers that are not performing as well as the client would like. “Closer investigation may lead to the conclusion that the current system is simply not suitable for the engine,” adds Wiebe. “That can mean a completely new system is necessary and we often hear people express the wish that they’d come to MarQuip form the outset!”
